HSN Inducts 106 Members at AE-FUNAI

The President of the Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN), Prof. Samuel Aghalino FHSN, has inducted 106 students from Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) into the Society.

During the colorful ceremony, Prof. Aghalino, represented by the National Secretary, Prof. Patrick Ukase, encouraged the inductees to be exemplary ambassadors of the Society. He highlighted the numerous benefits available to members, including networking opportunities, mentorship, and job prospects. Emphasizing their role as torchbearers of the Society, he urged them to avoid activities detrimental to their studies.

In his speech, the Vice Chancellor of AE-FUNAI, Prof. Sunday Elom, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Prof. Romanus Ejiaga, expressed gratitude to HSN for its efforts in professionalizing history studies and promised ongoing support for the department.

The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. B. O. Nweke, represented by Prof. D. I. Ajaegbo, congratulated the inductees and encouraged them to leverage their Society membership for personal development.

Dr. Arua Omaka, Head of the Department of History and Strategic Studies, praised the initiative of inducting young undergraduate students, describing it as a strategic move to engage students early. He advised the students to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the Society.

The President of the Students Historical Society of the institution, represented by his vice president, expressed gratitude to the HSN President for the induction and pledged, on behalf of the inductees, to be worthy ambassadors.

The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to the newly inducted students by Prof. Ukase and other dignitaries, amid dancing and celebration.

Other dignitaries present at the ceremony included the Registrar, Barr. T. Ifeanyi; the Librarian, Dr. Juliana. Akidi; the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, Prof. O. N. Amaka; and the immediate past Head of the Department, Dr. Bright Nwamuo.
