HSN Conduct 4th Induction for Unilorin History and International Studies Students

It was a moment of excitment as the Presient of Historical Society of Nigeria Prof. Samuel O. Aghalino with the company of other Council Members conducted the 4th induction Ceremony for the students of History and International Studies, University of Ilorin into the prestigious Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN)! This prestigious event marks a significant milestone for the students and the entire university community.

The induction ceremony, held at the University of Ilorin Auditorium, celebrated the academic excellence and dedication of the History and International Studies students. The students have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their studies and a deep passion for understanding historical and international contexts.

The event kicked off with a warm welcome address by the Head of the Department Dr Justus Aboyeji, who emphasized the importance of historical studies in shaping our understanding of the world. Prof David Imbua, A renowned Atlantic historian and VP South-South  delivered an inspiring lecture, highlighting the role of Artificial Intelligence in historical scholarship.

The highlight of the event was the formal induction of the students into HSN, by the President Prof. Samuel O. Aghalino FHSN, where they received their membership certificates and were officially welcomed into the society. The event provided a platform for students to network with established historians, faculty members, and fellow students, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.

This induction not only recognizes the hard work and achievements of our students but also opens up new opportunities for them to engage with the broader historical community. As members of HSN, they will have access to valuable resources, conferences, and a network of professionals dedicated to the study of history. 

Other HSN Council Members that were present during the occasion were: Prof. Lemuel Odeh (Chairman Ceremonies Committee), Drs. Bashir Animashau (Member South West), Benard Obeya (Member North East) Abraham S. Ogunode (National PRO) and Orji Ifeanyi Boniface (Web Manager).
